America's purchase of foreign crude funds the terrorist programs of those who would destroy us. The only way to reduce the threat is to reduce our dependence. It will not happen over night - it will take a 20 to 25 year program but we must start now!
In the early 1960's President Kennedy in response to the Russian Sputnik vowed the US would put a man on the moon by the end of the decade.
After 9/11, American needs to make a similar commitment - reduce US energy dependence by 50% within 15 years.
The technology exists today - there is no need to keep studying the issue - coal, natural gas or bio-mass produced synthetic fuels - billions of gallons produced so far!
